Make and sell? The glory of flea markets and yardsales

I’m wondering if any of the laborers have the skills to make items suitable for sale at a flea market (or yard sale).  I know there is the occasional market (I’ve known of one in Court House, have heard of some as far away as Fredericksburg -here’s a list: http://northernvirginiaantiquesfleamarkets.nova-antiques.com/).  Would there be any items that the laborers or the women may be able to make and sell?  Wooden art pieces? Braided bracelets? Paintings?

  1. Interesting idea- are you thinking of periodically, or as a long term endeavor? You know, are there candidates among the day laborers that have the qualities that will enable them to take this on as a long term means of making money (for themselves) If so, this could become a business venture pilot. 2. Ideally, it would be periodically so that laborers could have a steady (albeit quarterly/monthly/weekly) source of income. In order to have it periodically, obviously we’d have to have a steady source of labor and materials.

I would suggest starting off with a more short-term project,- gathering up a small to medium stock of items over a few months and taking those items to a market to see how they fare. Depending on the number of sales, we could abandon, adjust, or maintain the project. If sales were good, we could increase labor/materials and/or the frequency that we visit such markets. The converse would hold.
